Eva Pavithran is back to work
Eva Pavithran is acting in Leo Thaddeus's Lonappante Mammodeesa after a two-year break.
Eva Pavithran, who debuted in Malayalam through Mohan’s The Campus in 2005, became popular through the 2015-movie Rockstar. She is the daughter of director Pavithran and Kalamandalam Kshemavathy, two illustrious persons from the fields of cinema and dance. It’s no wonder that love for art is instilled in her. She got married to cinematographer Pradeesh Varma soon after Rockstar and is now coming back to silver screen through Leo Thaddeus’s Lonappante Mammodeesa produced under the banner of Pen and Paper Creations.
"The break was never intentional. My marriage took place six months after the release of Rockstar. Like many, I took some time to settle into the new life. I never thought of leaving movies," says Eva. She’s playing the character Rosily in Lonappante Mammodeesa, which has Jayaram playing the lead. “I play Jayaramettan’s youngest sister, the other sisters being Shanthi Krishna chechi and Nisha chechi. The director called me over phone and narrated two lines on the movie, which really interested me. Later, he narrated the script in such a striking way that I decided to do the movie. They were looking for an artiste for Rosily’s character who resembles Jayaramettan and finally I was cast for that role. Maybe I was the least experienced among the entire cast and crew,” she quips.
She says the character is extremely opposite to the one she did in Rockstar and also admits that her real life character has no similarities with Rosily. That made the role interesting for her. “Rosily is from a rural background and she’s very innocent. Her world is her siblings and she’s her brother’s pet. Since I was acting after a two-year hiatus, I asked Leo sir to guide me while shooting. I was really nervous during initial shooting scenes. Later with everyone’s support my confidence was boosted. After all, a movie is all about teamwork,” she adds.
She affirms she’s happy to have worked with such a good cast. “I had good support from everyone, especially Jayaramettan, Shanthi chechi and Nisha chechi. Nisha chechi used to say to me, ‘don't act, just behave’. Shanthi chechi gave tips during many of the combination scenes. Jayaramettan used to say to me that I needn’t be tensed, ‘nammal thakarkkuvalle’.” She believes the off-screen chemistry among the four have worked while shooting too. “The movie will be a clean, family, feel good entertainer. It’s a movie which emphasises on relationships. I really hope everyone will enjoy it.” She says that the assistant directors really helped a lot in doing the character well.
Eva is a dancer too. She’s trained in Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattom and Kuchipudi. “I last performed on stage six months back. Since I and Pradeesh are settled in Mumbai, I’m not being able to have regular practice. I don’t like to perform on stage without practice. Amma doesn’t like it at all,” she quips. She’s planning to resume practice when she is in Kerala. She is a fan of her mother’s works and had performed Mohiniyattom with her in USA last year. She says people think that she left the movie industry after marriage. Majority of the comments and messages she gets on Facebook are based on that. “As I said, the break was never a planned one. Many still think I left movies after marriage. The misunderstanding will change soon after the movie comes out. I’m still in movies and love to get busy,” she signs off.
