Faasil, Tom Chacko, Joju George are new villains on the prowl
Amidst Bollywood and Kollywood actors playing negative roles in big-ticket Telugu films, talented Malayalam actors like Fahadh Faasil, Shine Tom Chacko, and Joju George, who carved a niche for themselves in Malayalam film industry with their immense talent and varied roles, have arrived in Tollywood to send shivers down the spine of Telugu heroes with their ruthless behavior and actions.
If Fahadh Faasil took on the might of reigning star Allu Arjun in 'Pushpa' and his punchline 'Party Ledha Pushpa' has rocked the tinsel world. While Tom Chacko made life miserable for Nani in the rustic drama 'Dasara' and now it is the turn of Joju George to trouble Vaishnav Tej in his next film 'Adhikesava'.
"We wanted a very popular actor who could match the stature of Allu Arjun, so we roped in Fahadh Faasil to play the tough cop in our film 'Pushpa,'" says producer Ravi Shankar Yellamanchili, who claims that the confrontation between Allu Arjun-Faasil would get stronger in its sequel 'Pushpa 2. "The two actors are set for a big clash in 'Pushpa 2, and it would be a treat to watch," he adds.
Actually, Faahad Faasil has risen to the top in Mollywood with sensational films like '22 Female Kottayam', 'Malik', "Athiran' and 'Irul' and drew appreciation for his versatility. Similarly, Joju George made waves in Mollywood with films like "Porinju Maniam Jose', 'Nayyatu," Joseph' and 'Irratta' to carve a niche for himself.
His colleague Tom Chacko also had his successful stint in Malayalam with films like 'Bheeshma Parvam,' Corona Papers' and 'Adi' before stepping into Tollywood with 'Dasara' and following it up with 'Rangabali' and is now all set to take the might of superstar Jr NTR in 'Devara.'
Commenting on the inflow of Malayalam actors, director Hemanth Madhukar says, "These Malayalam actors are very talented and come up with refined and settled performances so they could connect with young Telugu audiences.
A few of them would have already seen them on OTT and liked their performances. Actually, Faasil, Tom Chacko, and Joju George are known for doing challenging roles to showcase varied shades with ease."
Hemanth adds, "With such a vast acting experience, they would make work easier for young Telugu directors looking for fresh faces to play roles with negative shades. Besides, they are very professional since they hail from an industry where unique themes are explored within stipulated budgets. No doubt more Malayalam actors would be arriving in Tollywood," he concludes.
