Curtains down on International Film Festival of Kerala today
The cash prize of Rs 15 lakh will be shared equally between the director and the producer.
Thiruvananthapuram: After seven days of drama inside and outside theatres, the International Film Festival of Kerala 2016 will wind to a close on Friday. The valedictory will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. This festival screened 184 films under 15 categories from 62 nations. Films under ‘Gender Bender’ were oft quoted by delegates to whom DC spoke. There were 81 films under the world classics category. Suvarna Chakoram (Golden Crow Pheasant Award) will be presented to the best film.
The cash prize of Rs 15 lakh will be shared equally between the director and the producer. Other awards are: Rajatha Chakoram for the best director with a cash prize of Rs 4 lakh and for the best debut director with a cash prize of Rs 3 lakh; audience prize Rajatha Chakoram; FIPRESCI award for the best international film and best Malayalam film; and NETPAC award for the best Asian film and the best Malayalam film. Culture Minister A.K. Balan will preside over the function. Minister Kadakampalli Surendran, Mayor V.K. Prasanth, A. Sampath MP, Chalachitra Academy chairman Kamal and vice-chairperson Bina Paul will be present.
