It was in 1995 that Mohanlal's Sphadikam hit the screens, introducing Roopesh Peethambaran to the Malayalam film industry. Later, he made his entry as a director with Dulquer Salmaan's Theevram and then the multi-starrer You too Brutus. Roopesh, who staged a comeback as an actor in Oru Mexican Aparatha, has now played a prominent role in a short film titled Touch, which is becoming viral on social media sites.

“Though it is only now that the short film has got released, I acted in it even before we started the production of Oru Mexican Aparatha,” says Roopesh.

“It was after the promo video with the song Katta Kalip from Oru Mexican Aparatha got released, that this offer came to me. I was prepping for my role, by reducing my weight, when the director Bhibin Bharathan came up with this subject. When I heard the outline, I found it very interesting,” he says

Roopesh points out that the short film talks about a novel subject. “One of the major highlights of Touch is that it is not discussing a clichéd subject. Instead, the makers have chosen a topic which should be discussed in our society: abortions. Did you know that the aborted human fetal tissues are being used in cosmetics, junk foods and beverages? In fact, after hearing this subject

“I could not even taste chocolates and soft drinks as there were studies indicating these fetal tissues are being added in such foods," he says.

After being a part of big screen projects, did he have a problem acting in short movies? “No, there is no such issue. First of all, I accepted this movie just for the strength of the content. And I do not think that I would be tagged as a short film actor, just because of this project,” says Roopesh, who has a few films in his kitty as an actor.
