Kochi: The cops on Tuesday recorded the arrest of Sunil Kumar aka Pulsar Suni in connection with the alleged abduction bid of a female actor in 2011 and taken into custody three persons including a Kothamangalam native in this connection. A team led by Ananthalal, Circle Inspector, Central Police, recorded the arrest of Suni, currently lodged at the Kakkanad district Jail in connection with abduction and sexual assault of a prominent actress on February 17 this year. Besides Suni, three more persons including one Ebin of Kothamangalam are I police custody. The fresh case was registered on Monday based on the complaint of film producer Johny Sagarika.
As per the case, Suni picked up the actor from the Ernakulam railway station upon her coming to the city for shooting of a movie and attempted to abduct her instead of dropping at the hotel where her accommodation was arranged. On an alert by the actor’s husband, also a film producer, the gang backed out of the attempt and later dropped her at the hotel. Another young actress was scheduled to accompany the actor, however, she cancelled the trip on the last minute. According to sources, the police would try to get custody of Suni in the fresh case and interrogate him to ascertain whether the “quotation” by actor Dileep was given after the incident. A police team also recorded the statement of the female actor at Thiruvananthapuram.
Meanwhile, Suni’s lawyer B.A. Aloor said the main accused would soon give his secret statement under Section 164 CrPC before the Angamaly Judicial First Class Magistrate. Earlier on Tuesday, the court extended his remand period till August one. While coming out of the court, Suni told media persons in response to their query that it was up to the “VIP in Aluva” to reveal whether more persons were involved in the case. “The story has reached only the half way point,” he said. The court is slated to hear the bail petition of Suni along with those filed by his co-accused on July 20. Meanwhile, the Special Investigation Team probing the case will interrogate Vipin Lal, currently lodged at the Viyyur Central prison in Thrissur. Lal, a former fellow prisoner of Suni at the District jail in Kakkanad, had written a letter on behalf of Suni and addressing actor Dileep, is 11th accused in the case.
