Malayalam actress abduction: Dileep bail plea adjourned to Tuesday
Dileep argued that he was not the kingpin of any criminal conspiracy or even a participant.
Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Friday adjourned the bail application of actor Dileep, the 11th accused in the actress abduction case, to August 22. When the case came up for hearing, the prosecution sought an adjournment and the court granted it. Dileep, who was arrested on July 10, in his bail application had criticised the cops and alleged that the entire case was cooked up by them. Dileep argued that he was not the kingpin of any criminal conspiracy or even a participant. He is not the perpetrator of any criminal offence.
He is only the unfortunate victim of an orchestrated media campaign and proceedings of a group of police officers acting on the preconceived notion of his guilt and wanting to implicate him as an accused, he alleged. Dileep blamed the police and argued that the investigating agency was persuading other departments to initiate action against the petitioner on the allegation of encroachment of government lands and accumulation of unaccounted wealth.
The High Court had earlier dismissed his bail plea. According to him, neither the complainant nor any other witness had raised any allegation or suspicion of any animosity or involvement on his part before the police team. The investigation in the case is almost over. Hence further detention of the petitioner is not needed, the petition stated.
