Sanal's won the Hivos Tiger award at Rotterdam earlier last year and was also screened at the Singapore International Film Festival.
S Durga, the Malayalam movie that sparked a controversy last year, has got a green signal from the CBFC’s Revising Committee. It was director Sanal Kumar Sasidharan who announced the news on social media by sharing the film’s poster. “Dear friends, the fight has ended. The Revising committee of the CBFC has approved the film S Durga for public release. We wish to release the film in as much theaters as possible. We are looking for a proper distribution channel and if it is not feasible, we will arrange a parallel distribution device for which we need your continued support,” the post read.
Sanal’s won the Hivos Tiger award at Rotterdam earlier last year and was also screened at the Singapore International Film Festival. But the film was banned for public release and was asked to change the title to S Durga by the CBFC, citing that it could ‘affect law and order’ and ‘hurt religious sentiments’.
