Siju's Midas touch
Siju Wilson, who is seen in a small, but crucial role in Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan, is happy to be part of three blockbusters so far.
In the last two years, Siju Wilson has acted in three films — Premam, Happy Wedding and Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan. Interestingly, the first two in that list created history in Malayalam cinema and the third one is now running in packed houses. Siju says that he was basking in the success of Happy Wedding when he got the call to Kattapanayile Rithwik Roshan. “It was through production controller Roshan (Chittoor) chettan that I got the call to this project. I went and listened to the script narrated by its writers Vishnu Unnikrishnan and Bibin George. Though, I was offered a small role, I felt it had enough depth in the storyline — which is an out-and-out funny entertainer,” says the actor.
This is also his first project with most of the cast and technicians of KRR. “Though I had met Vishnu at some functions and auditions, it was when I joined this film that we became closer. Like that, it was after I committed to this project I got acquainted with Nadir Shah ikka. It was really fun working with such an energetic crew,” he says. Quizzed about the trend of success of non-star films, he says, “I am happy to say that I could be part of two films in that list. I think the subject plays a crucial role in these movies along with the excellence of directors. If a film is an entertainer, people will definitely watch and make it a hit.”
As an actor, what are the preferences in choosing roles and films? “I always look at the importance of the roles in the storyline. As I said earlier, the KRR role had enough importance in the story even though it was a smaller one. I prefer to essay roles which have depth and space to perform. Now I am acting in Nivin Pauly’s Njandukalude Naatil Oridavela in which I essay a supporting role — which is a performance-oriented one,” says the actor from the sets of Njandukalude Naatil Oridavela.
