Kochi: In his latest blog post, ‘What’s the point of us living when India is dying’ actor Mohanlal urged his fellow countrymen to think about the nation’s security instead of indulging in talks about patriotism and violence.

Mohanlal’s post, on his blog ‘The Complete Actor’, went viral on Monday, but his remarks against the ongoing struggle at the JNU drew flak from some.

Through his six-page long blog post, Mohanlal stressed the importance of soldiers in the country’s growth, development and its security. Mohanlal referred to the recent avalanche in Siachen that killed nine soldiers and also the photo of Lance Naik Sudheesh’s four-month-old daughter being shown her father’s dead body.

“Parents should try to develop the culture of their children. Then they will start saluting people the way they raise slogans. They will also learn to cry for our country with the same vigor they argue and fight. They will not seek for the freedom of an offender and they will be more cautious about the safety of our country.

Though Mohanlal criticised the ongoing JNU protest and Kanhaiya Kumar’s arrest, he made it clear that he was not interested to comment on the current political scenario.

The blog post was widely criticised on social media. CPM leader M. B. Rajesh criticised the post and asked Mohanlal to listen to Kanhaiya  Kumar’s speech at the campus and write about it.
