Lakshmi and Vineeth to dance together
Vinod mentions that the film would be a tribute to the great poet. Incidentally Kambhoji is the name of a Carnatic raga.
What can the audience expect when Vineeth and Lakshmi Gopalaswamy come together for a film? A film full of music and dance is what! The duo will be pairing up for the Vinod Mankara directed film Kambhoji which will have the art form of Kathakali as the main premise.
The film is also interesting in that it will be the last film to have lyrics penned by the legendary O.N.V Kurup who in spite of having a fractured hand was so enamored of the subject that he wrote the songs. The film has three songs written by O.N.V and one written by Vinod himself.
Vinod mentions that the film would be a tribute to the great poet. Incidentally Kambhoji is the name of a Carnatic raga. Vinod sheds more light on the story “This is a true story that took place in the 1960’s when the disciple of a famous kathakali guru was hanged in Kannur jail.
This was a first for an artiste and an incident that the kathakali artistes or fraternity do not like to talk about. Vineeth plays the disciple who is very good looking and a very talented artiste who is a master of his art form. He falls in love with a Mohiniattam dancer played by Lakshmi and more than the beauty of the love between them, it is also the beautiful amalgamation of the art forms. The film will be a dance based story.”
The film will kick start its shoot by May 8 in Ottappalam and the script of the film is also by Vinod himself. Incidentally Vineeth and Lakshmi have danced together in various dance shows and it would be a treat to see them dancing on - screen.
