“Dear daughter Sreeja, I know you despise me. But your father is not a cruel man. I am happy that you have found love. I respect love,” begins a letter from a fictional dad to a fictional daughter, now going viral on Facebook. Actor Vettukili Prakash wrote the letter, as the character he played in the recent film Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum, addressed to Sreeja, the daughter’s character played by Nimisha Vijayan. Towards the end of the letter, he acknowledges the people behind the film who made it possible for her to have “these experiences”.

“Hope you have the blessings of Potha Pushkara Sajeevadi Rajeeva,” he writes of director Dileesh Pothan, creative director Shyam Pushkaran, writer Sajeev Pazhoor and cinematographer Rajeev Ravi. Prakash goes on to say how ‘Sreeja’ would one day understand his acts when she too has children of marriageable age. He then talks about sending a piece of jewellery to her, which she should keep safe from a certain thief who is going around in Kasargode who is good at sending inland letters and stealing what’s written — referring to Fahadh’s character in the film. The creative piece also talks about her husband, played by Suraj Venjaramoodu.
