Never say die attitude: Bivin
Bivin is also proficient in martial arts like kickboxing and MMA as well as Salsa and free style dancing.
Tinsel town glitters like gold, luring hundreds of newcomers like moths drawn helplessly to a flame. Scratch beneath the gold, and what emerges are stories of sweat, toil, disappointment and missed chances. But all that does not stop starry eyed newcomers who have only one dream— a shot at becoming an actor. Bivin is a youngster who is obsessed with cinema but what makes him stand apart is his tenacious pursuit of his goal unlike many others who give up halfway and his decision to not quit a steady job. His fascination with cinema did not happen overnight as he explains. “My father is a huge film buff who is fond of Tamil movies. Right from childhood, all I can remember are the innumerable films that I have seen in Tamil and Malayalam. I became a hardcore fan of Mohanlal and growing up in that atmosphere had me inclining towards films."
Bivin, with no godfather but armed with a never-say-die attitude has made inroads in Mollywood and has acted in four films: King Liar starring Dileep and Lal, Avarrude Raavukkal opposite Asif Ali, Mohanlal-starrer Loham and the Nivin Pauly starrer Action Hero Biju. He has also signed on for the upcoming Lal-starrer Chandrgiri where he plays a journalist. Bivin works in a software company but that has not diminished his obsession with films. “My holidays, off days and after working hours are dedicated to cinema,” says he. “I make sure that I visit film sets nearby, network or call up directors for roles.” Bivin has a very clear goal- landing a prominent role in a film but the path to that is not a bed of roses as he explains. “It is relatively easy to get a break in Mollywood if you have a godfather but without one it is all about hard work and big factor- luck! It is easy to get disappointed and even easier to give up but in spite of facing dejection and rejection, I have preferred to stay focused on my goal. I believe that my dream will become a reality only when I hold on to it and not let go off it. I am ready to face any hardship in my quest to see my dream fulfilled.”
As a stepping stone to acting, Bivin has also played the lead in some short films. The very popular Vaalnakshatram had him playing Muttashigadha fame Rejini Chandy’s son. The short film Confession was also well received on social media. It is his upcoming short film 205 that has him really excited. He explains why: “I play the only character in this film which has the voice of another actor as the second entity.” That’s not all — Bivin is also proficient in martial arts like kickboxing and MMA as well as Salsa and free style dancing. This, he says, is again for cinema — so that he can perform action and dance sequences if required to.
