The Best Take Off'
For Divya Prabha, be it serials or movies, she has been part of the best ones.
The recently released Malayalam movie Take Off is probably one among the few films in Malayalam where a male actor is not the main protagonist. Inspired by the ordeal of Indian nurses from the city of Tikrit in Iraq as a result of civil war in the country in 2014, the movie depicts the unfortunate incidents they face. Despite being the directorial debut of Mahesh Narayan, the movie has been able to strike the right chords. Amid the outstanding performances by Parvathy, Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban and Asif Ali stands out that of Divya Prabha, who portrayed Sameera's (Parvathy) friend Jincy, who has been appreciated for her equally important role. Divya, a mini screen artist noted for her character Aparna in a K.K Rajeev's Eeswaran Sakshiyayi, speaks about her transition from serials to movies.
“I actually started off with movies, but people started noticing me after my role in Ithihasa after which I got the call to Rajeev sir's serial. I immediately said yes as he has a very unique perspective towards serials; the best ones in Malayalam till date are his.” As a beginner, Divya was concerned about the script and her contribution to the movie. Acting in a movie and then doing serials is not at all her concern. “Quality is very important and I believe that in the present scenario, being part of a quality movie and a quality serial is equally tough,” she says. It was her association with Prem Prakash in Eeswaran Sakshiyayi that landed her a role in Take Off.
Mahesh happened to see her photographs in Prem Prakash's phone and gave her a call for the audition. “I want to be part of scripts wherein I have something to do and not just be a part of the group. And now, I can proudly say that nothing could have been better than Take Off,” Divya recollects. Sharing her experience on the sets, Divya says that Mahesh is a perfect director and knows exactly what he wants from actors who just had to follow his instructions. “My co-actor Parvathy is an amazingly hard working person. While performing, when your co-actor delivers their best, you automatically start reacting to it, making the output a perfect one,” she adds. Divya will next be seen as Dileep's sister in Ratheesh Ambat's Kamara Sambhavam, the script of which is written by Murali Gopi, which, according to her, is the major highlight. She hasn't committed for anything else and is in no hurry to become a mainstream actor. She sticks to her instincts and attempts only those roles that interests her.
