Splitsvilla for Amala, Vijay?
A.L. Vijay responds to rumours of his divorce doing rounds.
No one could believe their ears when rumours spread that the adorable couple of K’town — actress Amala Paul and director Vijay — were parting ways. Just two years into a fairytale wedding after a three-year courtship, the two are headed for a split, say sources. Amala, who used to post a lot of pictures with her hubby dearest on Facebook, has been quite inactive on social media recently. It is learnt that the relationship between the two was souring for the last few months and reached a stage that both opted for a divorce and separation on mutual consent.
Industry sources reveal that Amala’s post-marriage film career and her going on a signing spree was upsetting Vijay’s parents, who did not approve of it. Also, close friends cite their lifestyle and compatibility issues as reasons behind the current situation. When DC contacted Vijay, he was unwilling to comment on the issue. However, when prodded, all he said was, “I don’t want to talk anything about it. Families are involved. I will abide by my parents’ decision.”
When we tried to contact Amala through a close source since incoming calls to her mobile was barred, the actress reportedly refused to talk about it now. Amala was on a career high in 2014 when she chose to marry Vijay. Though she had hit the bull’s eye with Prabhu Solomon’s Mynaa, it was Vijay who cast her opposite Vikram in Deiva Thirumagal and Ilayathalapathy Vijay in Thalaivaa, which catapulted her to dizzy heights. It was during the making of Deiva Thirumagal that the duo fell in love. After three years of dating, the couple tied the knot on June 12, 2014, at a star-studded function in Chennai. They have been living in a bungalow in the posh Boat Club area in Chennai ever since.
