Unplanned entry into films
Shaun Romy will make new commitments after knowing the response to her debut, acting with Dulquer in Kammatti Paadam.
Shaun Romy still finds it unable to believe that she acted in the movie Kammatti Paadam opposite Dulquer Salman. The innocence in her laugh is captivating, as she does not carry the credence of an actress in the limelight. Shaun says her attempt at the movie was not a planned one. “My friend sent my photograph after seeing a casting call on Facebook and things followed through. I can’t believe I got through because I never thought of getting into this field, seriously!” laughs Shaun.
Brought up in Bengaluru, Shaun moved to Kochi two years ago to pursue her career in Biotechnology Engineering. Her stint with modelling was also happening alongside, as she loved her job and the call for acting popped up when least expected.
“It was really an exciting and transforming experience for me. From going to the audition to selecting costumes, I liked every bit of it. Every moment was memorable. I’d say I learned a lot during shooting, especially working under an experienced director like Rajeev Ravi. When you act, you are constantly on the change with your emotions, unlike modelling which goes with the same expression,” says Shaun.
On acting alongside Dulquer, Shaun says, he was very friendly and down-to earth. “He helped me with a couple of tips with the acting, since this was my first experience. He was very supportive throughout, and I could feel comfortable, to act without any qualms,” smiles Shaun.
More about her character in Kammatti Paadam — Shaun says she played Anita, who lived in the good-old 80s. “She is a simple person. In real life, I could relate to her if I were to live in her circumstances.”
With a notable entrance to the cineworld, Shaun says she doesn’t want to jump into committing new projects. “Let the movie come out, I want to see if my performance is accepted by people. It really depends on the feel I get after the response to know if I am right for this profession. Then I will be thinking of committing other projects,” signs off Shaun.
