No one can forget the face that mesmerised the audience in the role of Sonaiya in    Maheshinte Prathikaram. Actress Lijomol Jose, the daughter of artist Baby is now back in action with yet another memorable role in Nadhir Shah-directed Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan. Lijo got the call for this project in July. “At first, our production controller Roshan Chittor called and informed about this project. I was in Chennai and came down to Kerala to listen to the screenplay from its writers Vishnu Unnikrishnan and Bibin George. I really liked the script as well as the character,” she says. As in her debut film, Lijo acts as an Idukki native in this movie too. “My character’s name is Kani who is the daughter of Salim ettan’s Naxalite Chandran.

“Though Soniya and Kani are Idukki natives, it is the only common factor between them. Their characterisation is completely different. While Soniya is a bit modern and courageous, Kani is not like that. Her family is her world. Her whole thought process is that way,” says the actress who is also from Idukki district. Lijo, was pursuing her post-graduation from Pondicherry University at the time she entered filmdom through an audition. “I had no experience in acting when I came to films. In fact my first attempt was during the audition of Maheshinte Prathikaram,” she says.

So did she get many offers after that? “Yes, but there were very few interesting projects. In the meantime, I got call for a Tamil film. I liked that subject and agreed to act in it. While I was working on that yet-to-be-titled film, I got the call for Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan.” Next, she has committed to her third film in Malayalam. “This time, I am not acting as Idukki native; I’m from Kochi. As of now, I am not permitted to reveal the details of that film,” she concludes.
