Nasha Phenix is in a celebratory mood and justifiably so as her long cherished dream is coming true. Nasha will be debuting on the big screen of Mollywood through the film Celebrations, directed by Manjith. Nasha, who got a job with Air India as an airhostess, had to let go of the job to accommodate her film dates — something she is not unduly worried about considering that she has an active role to play in her family owned construction business.

Her parents have been her pillars of strength, supporting her tinsel town dreams. An urge to learn more about acting led Nasha to the Balaji film institute in Mumbai but she discontinued her studies after a month due to some personal reasons. She continues, “I also did some modeling in between and while pursuing that I got a call for a film audition. I went there and was asked to act out a scene. I was later called in the evening and confirmed for the role which is how my debut through Celebrations happened.”

Nasha is not particular that she would only do heroine roles. She informs, “I play a character with negative shades in the film. This role is very central to the film. I did not enter the industry with a fixed notion that I would play only the heroine. My intention was to showcase my talent through a good role which I am confident my character is. The director too believes that I can deliver a good performance and that gives me a boost.” Nasha plays a character that is very rough and she explains, “My character is always in an angry mode and is a modern lady who dresses very glamorously. She is someone who behaves very roughly with everyone around her and playing that role presented a lot of challenges for me because she is completely different from what I am in real life. I am this quite, childish girl who speaks to everyone with a smile whereas in the film I had to do a complete volte-face.” Nasha says she has been getting more offers but she is particular that she would only take up good roles that are integral to the film’s plot.
