Director: Ashwath Samuel

Cast: Karthik Attavar, Sangeetha Bhat, Sampath Raj, Anu Prabhakar

On paper, it is another ‘whodunnit’ saga but what stands out for Anuktha is that it holds the curiosity right till the end. Made by a relatively new team, it carried no expectations and hence makes an interesting watch. Whether it is a horror or a mystery thriller, is an answer revealed only in the end.

Though it gives the feeling of 'Rangitaranga’, it soon deviates to offer more in the second half. In fact, it is the second half which actually holds the key to the mystery! So as to experience it, the audience have to bear with the first half which in a word can be termed as boring.

Anuktha drew a lot attention for its trailer which was indeed captivating, but the full fledged tale is quite different and adds to its mystery. It might be disappointing for some in the beginning, but as the plot thickens, the thrilling moments starts to unravel.

Following the murder of a political worker, an upright police officer is posted on a special duty to crack the murder case. Coincidentally, the cop gets strangely connected to the case with his wife experiencing supernatural activities. Given the horror touch, the case gets murkier as the cop gets personally involved into it.

Minus the wasted first half, the movie is technically sound which was desperately needed for psychological drama of this nature. With regard to the performances, Karthik does it neat and Sangeetha Bhat leaves a mark along with the rest of the main cast including Sampath and Anu Prabhakar. In the end it is a well made mysterious thriller worth two plus hours of time.
