Wondering about Kannada thespian late Dr. Rajkumar's role in 'Ondu Motteya Kathe' meaning - A story of an egg? Well, the legend plays an inspiring role through his portraits, his movie posters, scenes and songs featuring him right throughout this most humourous and yet one of the sensible Kannada movie to release since multiple award winning movie Thithi.
Apart from Dr Rajkumar's inspiring presence, this egg has the right and simple ingredients, which makes it an impressive tale to watch. Debutant Raj Shetty, plays a major role in this one, both as the writer, director and also as the lead actor in a 'bald' role. He is undoubtedly the heart and soul of a realistic script made to look very natural on the big screen with a sensible feel to it. Moreover, the humour is funny which tickles your brain because of its core subject.
Janardhan, 28, is a Kannada lecturer by profession. His only worrying aspect is his 'baldness' due to which he is still unmarried. According to his horoscope, if he is remains unmarried beyond 29 years of his age, he could embrace the path of sainthood! The situation becomes desperate, and Janardhan takes the matter to himself.
In search for his perfect life partner, his first choice is his colleague who is an Economic's lecturer. He somehow manages to grow close to her with a little help/guidance from his college peon but when he finally decides to propose her, a handsome English teacher (not bald) makes a grand entry which twists his heart along with the tale. In between, Janardhan's bald escapades has several rib tickling light moments which are the other fun highlights.
In the second half, the heart broken bald Kannada teacher decides to win over his physical desires. But his quest to do so remains short lived after a strange and beautiful girl comes in his life. Shreya Aanchan plays the beautiful role to perfection, making the audience fall in love with her deceptive character. Even this loves story ends on a sad note.
When, Janardhan finally loses hope, there comes Jaanu, his classmate from his college days. She is bit over weight. Both meet with high expectations and when they realise that they are not perfect for each other, the tale takes a serious turn. However, the girl falls in love but Janardhan is unhappy.
Raj B. Shetty as Janardhan is simply one of the best and realistic act in the recent past with every minute detail and supporting roles doing their best, are an added attraction. The yolk part this egg is clear which talks about the 'real beauty'. Indeed, bald is beautiful, fat is adorable and any physical drawbacks is immaterial if one has the heart to identify the real beauty.
Do not miss to watch this tale of an egg. It makes you fall in love, laugh, cry and most of all, it makes you realise the most beautiful aspect of life. It even has the stamp of association from the director of Lucia and the producers of U-Turn.
