Ammana Mane movie review: Naturally slow and steady

Unlike the previous week's fan-tastic movie which is mainly made for the ‘challenging’ star Darshan's fans, this one is for those who seek for a meaningful film pegged with real values attached to it. Ammana Mane deals with a different kind of challenges altogether, and it could not have been any better venture for Raghavendra Rajkumar who returns to silver screen after more than a decade.

It is about a physically challenged person who was abandoned by his father as a child, and later his mother who brings him up against all odds. The grown up Rajeeva, portrayed by Raghavendra Rajkumar puts up an impressive performance and most importantly makes it look natural. His real life physical condition and the special bond he shared with his mother Parvathamma Rajkumar, helps him to turn Rajeeva into a believable character.

High on sentiment and melodrama at times, it lacks pace and hence requires a bit of patience to experience the good things which Nikhil Manjoo attempts through his honest effort.

Based a novel, which revolves around the life of a person who apart from facing his own challenging life, has to strike a balance between three most important women in his life - mother, wife and his daughter.

From legally fighting against the system for the sake of his daughter's education, and then having to take the toughest decision in choosing between his aged mother and his wife and daughter, Ammana Mane is profound to be understood.

Made with a moderate budget, there are no extravagant scenes, songs and the regular grammar of a commercial movie. It is mostly natural to match the seriousness of the tale. Naturally slow and steady makes it a meaningful watch in the end with Raghavendra Rajkumar at his challenging best. He is ably supported with the performances of others too.
