Movie: Pushpaka Vimana

He is among the finest actors in Sandalwood and Ramesh Aravind recently released his 100th venture with an extraordinary emotional and fun-filled film which melts hearts while flying on a special flight — Pushpaka Vimana. Yes, it’s a remake of a Korean film titled Miracle in Cell No 7, but unlike most other smart film makers, who copy foreign films, claiming it to be their own work, this one is an official remake, as Aravind obtained the rights for it first.

Ever since his debut as an actor, Ramesh has always been appreciated for the “emotional” characters he has portrayed in a majority of his earlier 99 films. In this film, he portrays a mentally unstable individual for whom, his little daughter is everything. A straight remake with suitable adaptive elements, Pushpaka Vimana is packed with tear jerking scenes so crying is inevitable.

But Ramesh Aravind’s impeccable sense of humour, provides relief, and his dedication as an actor, spread over two decades, is evident in every scene in Pushpaka Vimana.  For those who are unaware of the original, Pushpaka Vimana is about an innocent person who is mentally unstable, and gets wrongly convicted for a crime. He has one daughter, who is his world, and she also feels the world revolves around her father. Yuvina is very convincing in her portrayal, but it is the ‘inmates’ who steal the show, after Ramesh’s talented performance, of course.

The flight takes off through the eyes of the little one who is now grown up. Rachitha fills the grown up role of the daughter. Criminal justice across the globe rightly says that an innocent should never be punished. However, as the flight moves on, there are certain legal procedures with regards to housing a convict on death row which bring in comic relief. This flight also offers special entertainment with Juhi Chawla appearing in a song. Make sure to carry tissues, if not a towel, as you will definitely be left teary-eyed
