Sathyam Paranjal Viswasikkuvo movie review: Samvrutha makes impressive comeback
Sudhi Koppa deserves a special mention for his subtle acting.
One of the highlights of G. Prajith’s directorial Sathyam Paranja Viswasikkuvo was actress Samvrutha Sunil’s return to the big screen after a short sabbatical. In fact, she shines in her short yet significant role as housewife Gee tha in the film.
The character that could have gone overly dramatic is safe in her hands. Next highlight was the script by national-award winner Sajeev Pazhoor.
As in his previous outing Thondimuthalum Drikshakshiyum, Sajeev has taken a thin thread — this time from the life of masons — to build the backdrop of Sathyam Paranja Viswasikkuvo. The script cannot boast of an element of novelty. It follows the worn-out path where a group of masons, who are desperate for money, is seen stumbling upon an incident. It offers a quick solution to their problems. As they devise plans, the situation goes out of their hands, putting them in trouble. How they come out of it forms the rest of the movie.
Sajeev has succeeded in maintaining the simplicity of characters both in appearance and dialogues, throwing light on masons’ life and highlighting a lifestyle addiction linked to Malayalis; however, the narrative is not quite gripping in total. One can guess the conclusion towards the beginning of second half.
Also, one character is left off in the middle of the story. It might have got cut during editing, but the audience never gets to know what happened to the lorry driver or where Bhagath’s character, who took the driver to a hospital, went. So is Dharmajan’s character. He comes and goes, leaving questions in audience’s mind. The narrative lacks a strong and clear direction.
When it comes to performances, Biju Menon, Alencier, Sudhi Koppa and Dinesh Prabhakar are convincing as Suni, Karuppayi, Thamara and Prasad. Sudhi Koppa deserves a special mention for his subtle acting. If explored well, his talent would see new heights. After Kakshi Amminipilla and Luca, Srikant Murali delivers a fine performance as a police officer in Sathyam Paranja… Sruthy Jayan too appears in a good role. Screen writer Sajeev Pazhoor also acts in the film. Shehnad Jalal tries to be innovative with his camera in certain areas.
