Geetha Govindam is a clear winner!
Geetha Govindam is a cute romantic story and a paisa vasool film that you won't regret watching!
Cast: Vijay Deverakonda, Rashmika Mandanna, Naga Babu, Subba Raju, Rahul Ramakrishna and others
Director: Parusuram (Bujji)
Actor Vijay Deverakonda created his own mark after his last film Arjun Reddy and became a big craze among the audience, especially the younger generation. Not surprisingly, his latest film Geetha Govindam, whose promos generated quite a lot of buzz, released on Independence Day to huge openings.
Story: Vijay Govind (Vijay Deverakonda) is a lecturer in a college and a good-natured person who strictly adheres to values. He constantly dreams about his future wife and wishes for her to appear before him. One day, his dream girl, named Geetha (Rashmika), actually appears before him in a temple. Govind travels to Kakinda for his sister’s engagement, and finds that Geetha is not only travelling by the same bus but also sitting right next to him! During the journey, Govind tries to take a selfie with her while she is asleep, but it goes against him. Geetha wakes up and opines that Govind is a bad guy and calls her brother (Subba Raju) to do something. Her brother waits at Kakinada along with a few of his friends to beat Govind up on arrival. How Govind escapes from Geetha’s brother, and how he falls in love with his dream girl forms the crux of the story.
Direction: Director Parasuram takes a simple and cute love story which is not new, and transforms it as he narrates the story in an entertaining and lovable manner. Of course, the lead pair of Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna bring the director’s vision to life with their stellar performances. The film begins with Vijay sitting near Annavaram temple and narrating his story to Nithya Menen. He stops in between while she presses him to continue with his narration. Though it takes a few minutes to come to the actual story, after the bus incident, the film picks up, with the director adding entertaining twists and turns to it. Parasuram has clearly written the script with the focus on the lead pair, Vijay and Rashmika, whose chemistry is one of the film’s highlights. The scenes between them are very entertaining. The pre-climax scenes are emotional and have good dialogues. The climax too is different from other films.
Cast and Crew: When it comes to performances, it’s Vijay Deverakonda all the way! After grabbing eyeballs in Arjun Reddy, he does a completely different kind of role with ease, showing that he can do full justice to an entertaining role. No doubt, this film is going to propel him to big stardom and take him to a whole new level. He looks very handsome and delivers his dialogues with perfection.
Rashmika Mandanna showcases her talent by matching steps with Vijay. She is beautiful and shows her mature acting where required. She is definitely a talent who will enter the big league soon. Subba Raju gets a meaty character and is well suited for it. Among the supporting actors, Naga Babu is good. Vennela Kishore appears in the climax and provides good laughs. Rahul Ramakrishna plays Vijay’s friend and he too entertains.
Gopi Sunder’s songs are good, but the background score is simply superb, and actually lifts the mood of the film. Manikandan’s photography captures good visuals and is neatly done. Dialogues by Parasuram are good and situational. Geetha Govindam is a cute romantic story and a paisa vasool film that you won’t regret watching!
