Movie review: How Omanakuttan got loved, lost life and his name

Omanakuttan, a naive bumpkin, the hero, is outrightly rejected by his crush when he reveals his love for her. She measures him by sheer looks, going by which he is unwanted. Career wise, the marketing professional in Mysuru who enviably outshines others is a darling of his boss. A piece of advice from the boss sparks the need to rebrand himself, and soon, we see him woo six women at a time, all with a simple mobile phone in hand. A sheer reminder of the magic that works out well for anything from detergent to hair colour ad. Part one, otherwise the pre-interval period, shows how the hero, Asif Ali, an innocent young man transforms into a fraudster.

In the second half we see him lose memory, without being able to recollect even his name. And how it happened? What caused it to happen? Who knows? The rest is his journey with one of the girls he has romanced over the phone, Pallavi (Bhavana), in a bid to win the lost past. This meeting of the male and female leads is the lean thread upon which the first and second halves are hung, in a script that clearly lacks spine. That Asif Ali, as an unsophisticated Omanakuttan and Bhavana, as a go-getter modern girl, well-executing their part within these shortcomings is the only plus point the movie can highlight. For a viewer spending close to three hours in a cinehall watching this movie but has very little for intrigue.
