A still from Bodha.

Director: Suresh G

Cast: Vicky, Karthik, Vinodh, Eswar, Rahul Thattha

Bodha (Addiction) was promoted as a new age whacky crime comedy and to its credit, it did have a quirky subject that dealt with gigolos for the first time in Tamil cinema. But does it live up to the expectations? Read on.

Madhan (Vicky) comes to the city from his native to realize his dream of making it big in films. His roommate is Karthik (Mippu) who runs a mobile phone service shop. With his uncertainty in getting a chance in films, Madhan accepts the offer to turn into a male prostitute and make some bucks. Meanwhile, Karthik overhears a phone call from which he comes to know that a certain lady has crores of black money at home.  And when the same person asks for a gigolo service from Madhan, Karthik hatches a plan to steal the money through the former. But things go awry when Madhan finds the lady murdered and money stolen and accused in the process. Now he's in a fix!

Vicky has given a good performance and his acting stint at a famous studio comes handy, given the range of emotions involved. All others are just about adequate. Neither the comedy nor the thrilling portions work. Though the script had all the potential to make it an interesting movie, a lacklustre writing and incoherent screenplay turns Bodha an ordinary fare.
