Thumbaa movie review: Kids might like it
The director seemingly a nature lover has imparted a good message that man and animal should coexist in the society.
Director: Harish Ram
Cast: Darshan, Dheena, Keerthy Pandian
Revolving around three characters Thumbaa is about Hari (Dharshan) and Umapathy( Dheena) who are in the dense forest of Top Slip to paint a tiger statue and an aspiring young wildlife photographer Varsha (Keerthi Pandian) who comes there to take a picture of a tiger. Meanwhile, Thumbaa, a tigress from the reserve forest of Kerala with its cubs enter Top Slip. A gang of poachers is after the tigress even as a crooked forest official is ready to help them. The rest is all about whether or not the trio saves Thumbaa and cubs from the greedy gang.
Darshan who debuted with Kanaa has a long way to go. He still needs to hone his acting skills. Dheena manages to evoke laughter and is good most part of it. Keerthy makes a confident debut and does a pretty good job. Jayam Ravi in a surprising cameo is quite interesting and peps up the screenplay.
The director seemingly a nature lover has imparted a good message that man and animal should coexist in the society. The best part is that all the animals, the tigress, its cubs, the monkey and the birds are all created through computer graphics. Though they seemed exciting initially, after a point the tackiness is apparent. The first half moves at a slow pace. With its topical message, the climax is really alluring. The writing could have been better. With its animated characters and their antics, no doubt Thumbaa will appeal to kids. There are flaws; nevertheless the film can be watched for its novel and noble attempt.
