Gultoo movie review: An engaging infotainment'
As the plot thickens, the probe into the data theft is programmed well right till the end.
Director: Janardhan Chikkanna
Cast: Naveen Shankar, Sonu Gowda, Avinash, Pawan Kumar, Rangayana Raghu
Amidst all sorts of smart ‘leaks’ which has rocked the nation, raising big questions over the safety of all our personal data, here comes a perfect infotainment revolving around one such 'leak’ from another engineer turned director who makes an impressive mark, hacking into a sensible tale in his debut venture.
The best film so far for the year, Gultoo, is a surprise package which makes an audience to enjoy and well as to think smartly. Right from the plot and the making of it including the cast is so refreshing that there is hardly anything to complain about it. Apart from a few minutes of technical preaching in the second half which is very much needed, it is still a neatly webbed script with a difference.
A new face in the lead portrayed by Naveen, it's about a smart chap called Alok, an orphan who aspires to achieve big in life. From an engineering student to Alok's struggling days to start his own start-up, director Janardhan has smartly infused the right amount of humour, romance and suspense. That's not all; the prime focus on cyber crime is the main thriller.
The first half is fun attached with college life especially that of the saga of engineering students. Soon, the focus shifts to Alok, post his graduation. In between, another character - Aasthi, a friend Alok keeps the humour going.
While Alok is working hard for a successful future, Anu portrayed by the beautiful Sonu Gowda makes a ‘lovely’ entry seeking password to his love life.
The jolly ride takes an interesting twist with Anu managing to secure Alok's password to his system! In no time, he become the prime accused for stealing one of the most important data collected by the central government – Su‘dhar’ scheme.
As the plot thickens, the probe into the data theft is programmed well right till the end. Naveen deserves appreciation for his excellent performance and so does Sonu Gowda, who makes audience fall in love with her act. But the clear winner is the director, for his refreshing thinking behind the camera. Do not miss this gripping 'online’ tale.
