Vibe'rate with global notes
Since performing their first public concert in 2014, the band has come a long way.
In a world plagued by discrimination based on class, colour and culture, music could be a powerful binding agent. Massive Vibe Live aims to do just that. This 10-piece, livewire band with members from across USA, UK, Australia and Sweden light up the stage and hearts with what they call ‘beneficial vibes’ every single time. Back in Bengaluru, one of their favourite cities and a place that they believe is a pioneering city for new music, they promise this time isn’t going to be any different.
Aside of visiting their favourite haunts and gorging on dosas and lassies across the city, this time around, their show will ooze empowerment. “As artistes we have an opportunity to use music to empower and share a massive, beneficial vibe with everyone and we are inspired by musicians who use their music to benefit as well,” says the John Wright, the lead singer who admits that he wasn’t even singing until the band grouped under Queen Be.
Their sound is a rich indie vibe of roots, ska, rock, hip hop and funk, with over 15 instruments and cheery lyrics such as “You are perfect as you are, you be you, you are the shining light of benefit bright” that you just can’t stop swaying to. This diversity is thanks to the band members who are like chalk and cheese, but together, are a force to be reckoned with. “Remaining open and relaxed, while working on all the songs together is what makes them click,” explains their tour manager, Asaf Chesner.
Since performing their first public concert in 2014, the band has come a long way. They’ve not just performed to thousands across UK, Europe and India, but have taken to villages, festivals, colleges and ashrams to be heard, whilst releasing three albums on their world tour.
They’ve shared a stage with popular playback singers like Benny Dayal and Shaan, who couldn’t resist their contagious vibes either! Up next, “We will be shooting Yo! Be the Power, our new power-packed music video that will unite all people and cultures. We’re also looking to collaborate with some Indian musicians as well,” reveals Katharina Raysz, the director of Massive Vibes Live.
After Bengaluru, they head North to Delhi and the Rhythm and Blues Festival in Kasauli. Catch some vibes at Indigo Live Music Bar on March 6, 8 pm onwards.
