Padma Shankar, the internationally acclaimed violinist, vocalist and a disciple of maestro Lalgudi G. Jayaraman, is breaking new ground.  To encourage music enthusiasts and fans across the world to participate more in live music concerts and to inspire new audiences to enjoy and learn music, Padma has launched the digital platform Violin Padma - Select Club.

She speaks to us about her new initiative.  “This initiative brings together all music enthusiasts worldwide under one umbrella. We all know that, ‘music knows no boundaries’.  Few people like to listen and enjoy and the other few to sing or play while some live with a longing and hesitation that they couldn’t learn to sing or play music. The whole idea behind forming this club is to inspire those music buffs,” Padma reveals.

The initiative is being conducted through an online educational program.  It integrates the tradition and the new technological advancements, provides a unique opportunity to all music lovers to learn from her the music they love, cutting across the boundaries of race, language, country and continent. They can also directly interact with her online, to clarify doubts on prior appointment at appropriate intervals during the course of the program.

The access for this is for subscribers exclusively. You can listen to Padma’s latest recordings, read about what she writes on her blog, watch special videos of her music covers and performances and shop in the digital store with loyalty discounts .   “All these will only be available here and are not posted in any public platforms social media”, she adds.

Padma is presently the advisor-affiliate of Shankar Mahadevan Academy, an online university of music.
