Madhan Karky's tribute to Allah

Sometime earlier, lyricist Madhan Karky launched the website ‘Doopaadoo’ where you can listen to songs, as well as earn money for being heard. The lyricist has been using this platform to launch singles by singers across the globe, giving them wider recognition. Now, in a celebration of Eid, Karky has released a song titled ‘Oruvaney’ celebrating Allah’s greatness on his website.

Elaborating on the song, Karky says, “A few weeks back, I met singer Ujjayinee at a recording studio when we were recording a song for Iru Mugan. We got talking about Doopaadoo and she played a Qawwali song, which had a nice tune. The song she played was in Bengali, and I pitched in saying that there were no Qawwali songs in Tamil. After a couple of days, we met again with the intention of developing a song celebrating Ramzan. We brainstormed and decided on the genre of the song for which I wrote the lyrics. Ujjayini’s husband Ed, a guitarist, helped us and we recorded the song at the Aura recording studio in the city.”

“Oruvaney’s lyrics are in praise of Allah, and is meant to bring positivity in the minds of music lovers. Ujjayinee composed the song in the Qawwali format, and Super singer finalist Shravan lent his voice for the harmonies. The lyric is mainly about how Allah’s teaching quenches our thirst, and how he becomes the purpose of our lives. But, we haven’t incorporated anything in it from the Quran,” added Karky.

Oruvaney is being aired on a private radio channel from today and will be hosted on Doopaadoo as well. Talking about his plans for the website, Karky added that he has similar plans to celebrate all religions and continue providing a platform for both established and budding singers.
