A sound surrender

What’s the story behind the name of your band?  
The name stands as a metaphor reminding us of our limitations and our frailties.

What is your sound like?
We play progressive metal-core – a style that comes from the roots of punk and hard rock. It is laid with heavy crushing rhythmic breakdowns and melodic guitar parts, harmonised with syncopated grooves and bass lines. The highlight of the style of music is the part where the vocals happen with a twist of both growls and scream-o type of singing, define the expression of all emotions being engraved into the music. Thus, it has a deep emotive connect with it's fans.

How did you guys get together?
We are childhood friends. We come from different musical backgrounds, but it's our love for music in itself which is surprisingly similar.

Rock + Indian melodies isn’t something that are immediately thought of together. Is it challenging to mix the two?
It definitely is. It also requires a lot of theoretical knowledge. Our previous album, Empty Graves was efficiently produced and orchestrated with Indian melodies, ragas and instrumentation fused with the sound of metal-core.

Your first album was talked about a lot!
The record was intensely arranged and instrumented with Indian instruments played by some of the finest musicians – Ustad Fayaz Khan (Sarangi), The Cochin String Ensemble, Carnatic singer/flautist Varija Vani, Bangalore’s finest Carnatic vocal group fronted by Praveen D Rao, Anthardhwani, and the amazing orchestration by Simon Augustine Sandhy. The album was a great success with its worldwide release. People found the collaboration interesting, with airplay across the world including USA, Mexico, France, Sweden, Holland, Indonesia, UK & Brazil!

Killswitch Engage, August Burns Red, As I Lay Dying, Inflames, Soilwork and Lamb Of God, to name a few.

Did you guys want to be musicians all along?
We haven’t thought of alternatives. This is what we’ve always wanted to do.

Unwinding means...
Movies, friends, lots of chai and kicking back by listening to other genres of music.
