Secrets' under Northern lights
The Best Kept Secret singer tells us about performing at a private gig under the Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights in Norway!
Performing in Europe has always been a dream and checking out the Northern Lights has always been on my bucket list. But I would have not once imagined that the first ever time I ever played in Europe would actually be under the Northern Lights!
Not really loving the cold, I never thought that I would be this excited to perform in freezing temperatures of -23 degrees and below but I’m sure I won’t even realise how cold it is, in the ‘heat’ of the moment.
I’ve had a chance to meet the team that will be travelling with me from January 12 to 18 and I was overwhelmed by their excitement to travel with me. We will arrive at Tromso and go hunting for the Northern Lights, head out to a husky dog camp, learn how to ride a dog sled, check out its bustling night life and explore Oslo, another city.
All this, not without the special concert we’ve put together! The team and I have planned a very intimate show which will take place inside traditional Nordic tents called Luvvus.
The pressure is on me as I perform without my band for the first time. This performance will include stripped down, acoustic versions of Best Kept Secret’s recent song, Cant Let You Go amongst other originals. This show will also include my renditions of songs by artistes such as Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars, John Mayer and a few others.
Being an English band in a country like India, which is so heavily dominated by Bollywood and regional music, this isn’t an easy feat. We have been playing together for four years now and we have struggled to put our music “out there”. And in this endeavour, it’s great that radio stations like Indigo 91.9 offer this kind of support to an emerging English band from India.
