Songstress with mutt ado!
Rachna Ramdin, a vocalist, born and brought up in Mauritius, has been singing since the age of 10.
1. If you weren’t a musician what would you be doing?
I would be a dancer.
2. Tell us a little about what kind of music you work with?
I cover all genres, mostly dance and pop, with my own twist to it. I sing in French, English, Creole and Hindi.
3. Eternal youth or fat wallet?
Forever Young!
4. The first thing you would pick if you have to make a choice in 10 seconds?
A house with a huge garden for my four pets.
5. What comes first? Chicken or egg? A song on repeat?
Oh come on! This is like asking where a circle begins! Haha. A song on repeat would be Castle in the Snow by The Avener & Kadrbostany.
6. Music to you is? How would you explain this to your grandmother?
Music is the only thing that brings out the best in me. It completes me and makes me smile even when I’m at my lowest. There’s not a day that feels like work when I’m singing. My grandma needs no explanation when she sees me genuinely happy.
7. Pet peeve? What would your tombstone read?
People sneezing or coughing without covering their mouth. My tombstone would read “Don’t Laugh You’re Next.”
8. An onstage blooper?
I had just started my singing career, and after one too many brandies to “calm down my nerves” before going up onstage, I was told I was swaying along with the mic stand during the show and having my own little party in my head.
9. A trait about you that people like?
I’m often told I’m a very warm and caring person.
10. A compliment that you never understood?
“You’re easy to like.”
