Shreya Ghoshal was born on 12 March 1984 to a Bengali family in Berhampore, West Bengal. A t the age of six, Ghoshal started with her formal training in classical music.
Her some of the most prominent Bengali songs include, Olite Golite, Buk Fate Tobu Keno, Shotti Shotti Jodi Pori Hoye etc.
The singer made her bollywood singing debut in 2002 with Devdas directed by Sanjay leela Bhansali and there was no looking back for her since then.
She began her journey at the age of 16 by winning the children's special episode of Sa Re Ga Ma contest, which was hosted by a now-famous singer Sonu Nigam.

She made her Telugu debut for music director Mani Sharma in Okkadu (2003). Her debut in Kannada cinema was with the song "Krishna nee begane baaro" in the movie Paris Pranaya(2003). Ghoshal debuted in Malayalam cinema with a studio album of composer Alphonse Joseph and later gave voice to his song "Vida Parayukayano" from Big B(2007). In 2010, Ghoshal sang for the English independent film When Harry tries to Marry
The singer has Four National film awards to her credit and was also featured five times in Forbes's list of the top 100 celebrities of India.
