Singer Chethan Naik is thrilled after his song Last Semester composed by Hemanth Jois has gone viral.

A peppy Kannada tune about college days has taken the Internet by storm. The catchy song, titled Last Semester has managed to take a plethora of listeners down memory lane as they reminisce their unforgettable university life. The track is composed by Hemanth Jois of The Jois Project and is beautifully crooned by Chethan Naik, who’s making a mark in the Kannada film industry.

Ask Chethan how the song happened and he says, “My rendezvous with Hemanth happened at a show. After that, we started working together and realised that our chemistry was good. Out first song Tunturu worked well and we decided to work on a second track.”

Now, that their latest video has garnered around 60,000 views in just two days, the crooner is elated. “We wanted to connect to the audience with our number. A lot of big directors and musicians are talking about it and some of them have even called me to appreciate the song,” he shares.

An ambitious lad who hails from Shimoga, Chethan has been taking to the mic since his high school days. The youngster, who’s trained in Hindustani classical music, says, “I participated in some reality shows and two years ago, I won the Super Singer contest held by a popular radio station.”

Post this, he caught the eye of the film industry and started receiving movie offers. His first film was Style King and he’s sung for over 30 flicks till date including 5G, Supari Surya and even two Tamil tracks.

An MBA graduate, this vocalist worked for two years in marketing and sales before taking the full-time plunge into music. “I wanted to make my name in the field. For nearly a year, I hadn’t told my folks that I’d quit my job! But now they’re very supportive. It’s upto me to prove myself,” says the songster, who looks upto singers like Vijay Prakash, SP Balasubramaniam, Hariharan and Mohammed Rafi.

As someone who’s been in the industry for a while now, Chethan says, “I’m currently working with Sridhar V Sambhram, who’s my guru. He’s extremely supportive of me.” However, the artiste reveals that he’s being offered only soft rock or peppy numbers. He adds, “I’m actually quite versatile and I’m capable of singing other genre songs too. I hope I’m offered other types of tracks as well.”
