Shh! For your ears only!
Wary of attending loud parties? Then you are the right candidate for local events that promote silent discos.
Party in the most unusual manner without any noise or sound looks weird…doesn’t it? But, the city has different plans for the youngsters. Now you can groove to your own beats just like Ranbir and Anushka in the Break-up Song, using headphones. There are many silent disco events in Bengaluru that have created a noise- free atmosphere. This also gives youngsters the freedom to choose their own music.
Silent disco events are happening in Bengalru virtually every week, with an opportunity for three-to-four DJs to play music together at the same venue and time. Youngsters find it very cool and happening, as they enjoy the music of their choice privately in a group setting. Fahad Farook Sundka, owner of the first silent disco club in the city, says, “Since there is so much noise pollution, I came up with the concept of customised headphones which has three channels — Hindi, English and Regional. The guest can switch and choose their favourite tracks at their convenience, which makes it even cooler.”
There are pros and cons to everything, similarly the concept of silent disco is indeed a novelty, believes DJ Ivan. He also shares his experience, “If you go to a regular disco, there is a single DJ playing, but in this case, you have a choice of three rather than one, so the crowd gets to make a choice.” The concept seems successful in reducing noise pollution and not disturbing the neighbourhood.
Nisah Shabbir, an interior designer says, “I prefer silent discos and I don’t need to spell out the benefits again. Communication is a barrier at any party, in clubs you have to step out and talk or be louder than the speakers, on the other hand you just have to remove your headphone in a silent disc and talk normally.”
Introverts need not worry about socialising anymore at a party. Amber, MBA student, says, “There have been places where the volume of music has been reduced like Indiranagar, so there is no point partying without loud music. More importantly dancing to favourite song with your headphone is such a cool feeling.”
