When musician Rakesh Kesavan assigned his classmate and friend Sharon Syam to cover his wedding, Rakesh put forward only one condition — there shouldn't be any pre and post wedding shoots; he was least interested in those. However, Sharon insisted on doing something different and creative. Sharon suggested him singing a song for the wedding highlights video. Although Rakesh denied it first, later he composed a song and sang it! And it garnered more than 10,000 views on YouTube within a few days of release.

“I told him that I wanted to do something musical for my wedding. And when he suggested the idea, I said I would think about it. Thus the whole idea popped up,” smiles Rakesh, recollecting those days.

Rakesh, who hails from Tripunithura, married Sreevidhya, a native of Kozhikode, on May 4. “Sreevidhya was pretty interested in doing this video. Unlike me, she wanted to shoot our wedding in a unique manner,” chuckles Rakesh. “I sent her the song and asked whether we should do something with that. She liked the composition and convinced me to do the video.”

The lyrics of the song were written by Rakesh’s friend Gilu Joseph. The additional vocal was rendered by Anna Baby. Rakesh is happy about the positive response to the video. “Ealier, I have composed music for three movies — Swargathekkal Sundaram, Aana Mayil Ottakam and Out of Range. I am a member of the band Peppy Tunes and have done a few songs for the band. But my wedding song is my first independent project. I thoroughly enjoyed working on it as I had full freedom," he says.

The song was filmed at a temple near Vaikom and in Bolgatty Palace. Sharon, who did the shoot says, “We had to search lot for the right location. Finally, we found one temple in Chembu, Vaikom. The funniest part was that while we were on the way to the temple, we saw another temple, which was more apt for the shoot. We changed the location immediately.” And the team feels it was the right decision and the stunning visuals bear testimony to it.
