The mother and child relationship is the most precious of em’ all. Every other year, a song or two comes out to remind grownups to put in extra effort to give back some love to their own mother. Music composer Gemini Unnikrishnan’s latest song Aaraariraaro is one that touches everyone’s inner child.

The video song looks like it was plucked straight out of a movie and uploaded on social media. Unnikrishnan agrees and says “Yes, it was deliberately made to look like it was part of a movie.” Gemini, a promo producer at a popular radio station in Thiruvananthapuram, has composed the music for Aaraariraaro.

Music production has been a part of his life for the past 11 years. “Till date I have composed 157 songs to be exact,” he says with a laugh. Gemini talks about his association with Aghosh Vyshnavam, who directed Aaraariraaro.

“We have known each other for the past five years. I met him while working on one of Suresh Gopi’s projects. I did the music for that and Aghosh did the visuals. Since then we have always discussed about bringing out a project of our own. And finally we decided that we will bring out a lullaby and work as though we are making it for a movie. It so happened that we first created a situation and then created a song around it,” he explains.

Gemini’s first single came out way back in 2008, which grabbed the runner-up award in an international documentary and short film festival. Since then, he has come out with more than 15 singles.

Giving a peek into his professional life, he says, “Jingles are really hard to make. These are short 30 to 60-second stuff and getting people’s attention in such a short time is quite hard. Making a full-fledged song is easy in comparison.”

So how does he get the time to come out with his own compositions? “I was born as a musician and I will die as a musician. So I will find time for music. Moreover, one is ‘work for stomach’, the other is ‘work for the heart’,” he says with a smile.
