Hindustani Classical Recital to be held on June 24 in Hyderabad

The recital will be organised to pay tribute to the living legend of Hindustani Classical music Dr Prabha Atre.

Hyderabad: The Government of Telangana, Surmandal and Konkani Association in Hyderabad is all set to organise a Hindustani Classical recital on June 23, here at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. 

Dr. Shantanu Gokhale, disciple of Pt Shivkumar Sharma will perform santoor and Bharathi Pratap, disciple of Lalith Rao, will perform vocals while Sudhir Nayak will accompany them on harmonium and Pt Omkar Gulwady and Harijhit Singh will be on tabla.

The same artists will perform a day prior on June 23 at 7 pm at Sparsh Hospice in the city to celebrate the 80th birthday of late Anuradha Hemmadi. She is the late wife of the president of Surmandal Mr Mohan Hemmadi who has served Indian classical music for last 54 years.

Dr Shantanu Gokhale is a consultant endodontist at the Dinanath Mangeshkar Hospital in Pune; Bharathi Pratap is an electronics engineer and a graded artist of the All India Radio and Doordarshan and has given many performances across India.

The recital will be organised to pay tribute to the living legend of Hindustani Classical music Dr Prabha Atre.  She is currently one of the senior vocalists in the country representing the Kirana Gharana. 

Also being honoured on the occasion is Pandit Omkar Gulwady, a very prominent tabla artist.
