Band ovast from a strummer
Sahil Peris is an upcoming musician and live band artiste in Bollywood, pop and retro. He answered our rapid fire round....
1 What is the one thing you like about performing live?
Having people sing along to the tune I’m playing. That’s when I know they’re having a good time, nothing makes me happier than my audience enjoying my show!
2 If not for music, what would you be doing now?
That’s a tough one I am a software engineer by training and I even worked for two years in Boston. I do have an engineer side which would probably be trying to solve the water shortage problem all over the world, by using solar power to purify water. I’ve also always wanted to build and own a theatre/art venue to showcase art across the world.
3 Name a few people who have influenced your music?
I’d say Atif Aslam and Mike Rosenberg (Passenger) are the first two names that come to mind.
4 The first time you performed live?
When I was around five, in Delhi at a Durga Pooja celebration. Professionally about four months ago, at Forage.
5 A song you like to perform the most?
Can’t answer this Honestly, there is no one song. It depends on many things where I’m playing, the audience, time, weather. A couple of songs are Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran and Gulabi Aakhen by Mohammed Rafi.
6 If you could bring a book character to life?
Oh God, 99 per cent of the books I have read are non-fiction. Probably Bilbo Baggins from The Hobbit. He is actually who I want to be when I grow old.
7 Your favourite dish?
Dal makhni.
8 Your favourite movie of all time?
Brookyln. The one with Saoirse Ronan. Every aspect of that movie is as perfect as perfect can be.
9 DC or Marvel?
I stopped following super-hero stuff when I was nine. A spider bit me and all I got was a rash. No webs, no strength. But I have to go with Marvel, because Ironman still inspires some hope.
10 If you could visit a place right now, what would it be?
I’m a sucker for hot tubs, so probably the Blue Lagoon in Iceland. Plus, there’s a good chance I’ll bump into Ed Sheeran because he seems to go there whenever he has time off! Need to build some contacts ya know!
