Brijesh Shandilya has come a long way from his reality show days. The playback singer, who previously participated in reality music shows like Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and Indian Idol, shot to fame with his song, Banno Tera Swagger from Tanu Weds Manu Returns. In a freewheeling chat, Brijesh shares his musical choices.

Song on repeat on my iPod: Aayat by Arijit Singh for Bajirao

If I had to put together a ‘soundtrack’ for my life, the five songs on it would be: O Re Maajhi Mere Saajan by SD Burman; Mere Naina Sawan Bhadon and Zindagi Ek Safar Hai Suhana by Kishore Kumar; Kasme Wade Pyar Wafa by Manna Dey and O Saathi Re from Omkara.

A song you love to listen to when: You’re happy and upbeat: Any dance number actually, but lately my favourite is Kar Gayi Chul from Kapoor and Sons.

You’re really low: O Majhi Re by Kishore Kumar.

You’re working out? Any song by David Guetta

Music I loved growing up, but am now embarrassed by:  Sarkai Lo Khatiya. I loved this song during my growing up days. When I heard this song recently, I was absolutely embarrassed about my choice.

I’d describe my taste in music as: It all depends on my mood. I love all types of music actually.

My favourite time of the day/way to listen to music: I love to listen music at night. There is something poetic about listening to good music with dim lights on.

If I could have one band in the world/a musician perform a private concert for me, it would have to be: AR Rahman.
