\'What to Watch’ for week ending February 14
Vijay Sethupathi, Shahid Kapoor to debut on OTT this week
One of the most awaited debuts on the OTT is all set to happen this week. Moreover, Valentine’s Day is just round the corner giving chance to streaming platforms to come up with a lineup that would woo their audience.
Netflix
The week opens up with a big bang. Ajith Kumar’s Pongal release ‘Thunivu’ comes to Netflix on Feb. 8, Wednesday. The movie deals with the goings-on in financial institutions. The next release on the same day, ‘The Exchange’ too stays with the theme of finances. According to Netflix, inspired by real events, two women set out to pioneer the cutthroat stock market of 1980s Kuwait — and disrupt its corrupt boys club along the way. Set in the 80s, the series has been directed by Jasem Al-Muhanna and Karim Elshenawy and features Rawan Mahdi and Mona Hussain.
There can not be a week when we don’t have a physiological thriller released. Accordingly, the first part of ‘You” will stream on Feb. 9 and the second after a month.
Friday will see three releases, ‘Love To Hate You’, ‘Your Place Or Mine’ And ‘Ten Days Of A Good Man’. ‘
Love to Hate You’ is a K-drama, a romantic comedy to be precise. It’s the story of an attorney who hates to lose to men. ‘Your Place of Mine’ offers a lot of promise as a rom-com as it has been written by Aline Brosh McKenna who had earlier penned the cult movie, ‘The Devil Wears Prada’. ‘Ten Days of A Good Man’ is a Turkish movie that promises to be gritty and dark.
Perhaps the series that might interest Indians the most is the docuseries, ‘The Romantics’. Releasing on Valentine’s Day, it is a documentary featuring A-listers from Bollywood recalling their association with Yash Chopra who has given gems to movie buffs.
Winding up the week for Netflix is a Spanish series, ‘In Love All Over Again’. Created by Carlos Montero, Netflix has described it as a ‘steamy’ and ‘sentimental’ series.
Prime Video
The wait will be over this week and Makkal Selvan aka Vijay Sethupathi will debut on OTT with ‘Farzi’. The series also marks Shahid Kapoor’s maiden venture on a streamer. Expectations are high from the series releasing on Friday as the show boasts of a stellar star cast which includes veteran actor Amol Palekar, Kay Kay Menon, and Regina Cassandra.
Aha
NBK’s chat show, ‘Unstoppable 2’ is going strong and this week on Friday, it will feature the second part of the interview with Pawan Kalyan. The Power Star is likely to speak about his depression and political career. Releasing on the same day is an original Tamil series, ‘Sin’. According to the channel, ‘Sin’ follows the bittersweet journey of Nandita, a young woman who was forced to say goodbye to her childhood love and ended up in a loveless marriage to a perverted man, Anand.
Disney+ Hotstar
As a part of its non-fiction offering to the viewers, the streamer will beam ‘Hansika’s Love Shadi Drama’ from February 10. The series gives the viewers a peek into actor Hansika Motwani’s marriage and the drama surrounding it. On Feb. 8, you can also watch ‘The Making Of The Black Panther’.
SonyLiv
'Nijam with Smitha' , described as a show with bold questions and blunt answers begins this Friday. The trailer shows guests like N. Chandrababu Naidu, Cheeranjivi featuring on the show.
