I want people to see me do all kinds of roles'

Bhagyashree will shortly be seen in Sajini Shinde Ka Viral Video, a mystery drama about a Physics teacher from Pune. The actress talks to DC about the film, and also about her career plans in general.
Excerpts from the exclusive interview:

What was it like, working with an ensemble cast of new generation actors?

I am pretty excited it’s an ensemble cast. This is the first time I’m working with new generation actors, and also on new-age content. Mine is an interesting role, and I was able to imbibe the energy of the young actors.

Tell us a bit more about the title of the film.  

It’s a relevant subject, as, today, no one can live without social media. The term ‘viral’, which the film explores, refers to becoming popular or famous in the present context. Fame can be good as well as bad – it’s good when it relates to something that you yourself made public. But when a photograph or story is circulated without your knowledge and becomes popular, it is bad. This film is about stuff that is circulated without your knowledge and you end up getting trolled.

How important is social media today?

The younger generation has let it affect them to an unprecedented level. Every day, their life starts with social media and ends with it. It has become a big part of daily life.

What do you think of OTT platforms?

We Indians have diverse stories to tell, and different ways of telling them. OTT gives opportunities to all kinds of talents in all age-groups. Because of this platform, many folk tales have gained wide reach. For instance, who would have imagined that Kantara would make such an impact?

What next?

I’m open to doing all kinds of roles. I want people to see me in different avatars, and impress them with my versatility.
