Q Everyone is excited for Season 4 of Emily In Paris. What can we expect?
More drama, more laughs, more fashion and more travel. It’s an exciting season with multiple cliffhangers and multiple ways it could go.
Q Will Emily and Gabriel get together this season or will Emily fight to get Alfie back?
We’ll see. Emily has had to fight to win Alfie back once, so I don’t know how Alfie feels about that. And then Gabriel has expressed feelings for Emily but there is a baby on the way. There are so many unknowns going from the end of last season into this season.
Q Fans were gripped by the last episode of Season 3. What was your reaction when you read the script?
I was stunned. First of all, I had no idea how we were going to fit so much into a 35 minute episode but we did. A huge part of the success of the show is the writing and how the storylines are so cleverly interwoven. That last episode involved all the cast and so many dramatic moments. It was so exciting for us as a cast because we don’t often get to be all together in the same location. It was definitely a nail-biting experience to figure out all the nuances that led up to that finale and knowing we were going into this season in such an open-ended situation. It was a real cliffhanger.”
Q How involved do you get behind the camera as an executive producer on the show as well as its lead actor?
I do speak to (show creator) Darren Star about where the show is heading and what he has planned but I never want to to know too much. I want to be led by the writing and not have it all spoiled for me. At the same time, I can’t help but be curious about the trajectories of all the characters so there are moments in the writers’ room where I can’t help myself. But most of the time, I’m just like the fans – I’m excited to discover what happens next and to find things out for myself.
Q Fashion is a huge part of the show. Has what Emily wears changed your own style at all over the seasons?
I think so. Playing Emily and getting to wear so many amazing outfits has definitely made me more courageous with fashion, I think. Our costume designer, Marylin Fitoussi, is amazing. I love working with her but sometime, I have to admit, I have been a little overwhelmed by some of her ideas for Emily at first. But she is always right and I have learned a lot about style and fashion from playing Emily.

Q Did you ever think the show would become as successful as it is now?
You always hope it will but of course you never can tell something like that until it happens. I knew from the moment I first read the script that it was something special and that I really love Emily as a character and that Paris was always going to be an amazing setting but you never know if people will embrace the show as they have.

Q What have you learned about Emily and what do you admire about her over the seasons?
I’ve learned that she is always unapologetically herself and I really admire that along with her positivity, she is so bright and bold in everything she does. I love her can-do attitude and how bubbly she is.
Q Would you say that you are anything like Emily in real life?
I feel like I am in that Emily — like me, loves her job, she loves love, she loves her friends and she has gradually found her voice in the same way this show has helped me find my voice. I’ve learned so much from working on this show with such an amazing team of creatives. It’s a dream job to play a character like Emily and then also be able to contribute ideas.
Q Finally, how long can we expect to see you as Emily in Paris beyond this new season?
I don’t know. I can totally see the show going on and on. It really is up to the fans and the appetite of the audience. If people continue to love it and watch it like they have then we will hopefully get to keep making it. I hope so.”
