Kavin’s Bloody Beggar makes its OTT debut

This year’s Diwali went a bit darker in the form of Kavin’s dark comedy Bloody Beggar. The film had received fearful beating at the box office but won critical viewership and strong audience response during its theatrical release and is now finally out on the digital screens as well.

Bloody Beggar was set to release exclusively on Amazon Prime video on November 29, where it was first introduced. Fans hungry for more detail were even teased via advertising shared on deranged ex claiming that Prime Video allows users to interact with Hod and reel in their excitement.

Bloody Beggar has a certain appeal for its tone and drama. Although dismal during its box office releases, the last scenes from the movie, with heavy doses of drama to ensure a grand finale, made most audiences to be diehard fans of the series.

Since there was no leading girl Kavin was the focal point of the film, and it was an incredible job. Kavin’s interpretation was described with great enthusiasm by the critics who emphasized it as one of the most important components for the film.

Its audience also criticized the picture, some of them considering it an attempt to remake Ready or Not (2019) and some others criticizing the film for its songs which did not seem to satisfy many people which hurt the picture overall.

Though it released with stiff competition from several films including Jayam Ravi’s Brother, KA featuring Kiran Abbavaram, and Amaran starring Sivakarthikeyan, Bloody Beggar was able to become a box office hit.

The film made its debut at around Rs. 2. 25 crores, collecting Rs. 6.5 crores at the end of its completion which is a respectable amount considering the circumstances.

Kavin has first come into focus as a result of his television career and from Bigg Boss Tamil and then has transitioned to films. After starring in pictures like Pizza, Sathriyan and Indru Netru Naalai, Kavin has more sandwiched himself in commercial cinema with starring roles as he now has crossover appeal.
