Kiran Rao is quite ecstatic as her film Laapataa Ladies making the official entry towards the Oscars for India represents a tremendous achievement for Kiran Rao has spite of it still applauds her team for all the sleepless nights and endless hard work put towards the project.

Kiran renotifies the cinema and adds again happiness to the beauty of her profession.” It is with extreme humbleness and surpassing excitement that I accept the flag of Laapataa Ladies as the official entry for the Academy Awards from the country of India.

She expressed thanks to the selection committee concerning their selection, sighing for a few moments thinking how the film had been picked from so many overt competitors. Sometime back, the announcement was made by the Film Federation of India, picking the Laapataa Ladies from the 29 films that were submitted with films like Animal, Aattam- National award winner Malayalam film and All We Imagine As Light winning at Cannes.

Kiran also expressed gratitude to her ex-spouse and filmmaker Aamir Khan with regard to the support he extended for the making of the film. “I express my deepest gratitude to Aamir Khan Productions and Jio Studios for their great backing and belief in this vision. It has been an honor to work with such a wonderful group of passionate and skilled professionals who shared my vision towards the telling of this story.”

Based on an award-winning story of Biplab Goswami, Laapataa Ladies is based in the fictitious state of Nirmal Pradesh in the year 2001 where two brides are exchanged at a train. How this mix-up is resolved is a rather comical as well as chaotic search led by the police who is a local officer and played by Ravi Kishan.

Kiran bravely thanked the audience praising the film and the performances. She also added a note for the fans: “We appreciate your love and support every single day. We are grateful to you for believing in and encouraging us to break the barriers with this particular film. Thank you once again & forever for such an honor. We hope you know, we are excited to take this journey ahead.”

Laapataa Ladies, starring Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastav and a host of other actors, came out in March this year and has received praise, especially for an innovative approach to the storyline and a critical overview of male dominance. The nomination of the movie for the Oscars will further add to the glory of Indian cinema.
