No doubt, director Prashanth Neel is riding high on two blockbusters “KFG’ series and ‘Salaar’, while Prashanth Varma is basking in the success of ‘HanuMan’, but both are going wrong in one aspect-selling their scripts.

“They should avoid this practice,’ says a producer and explains, “If Prashanth Neel’s “Bagheera’ failed to live up to expectations, while ‘Devaki Nandana Vasudeva’ turned out to be a damp squib,” he adds.

He admits that names of big directors as writers would create some initial buzz for the movies and raise expectations. However, since they are not executing the projects, it is bound to fall short of expectations.

“If they are directing their scripts, they can score big wins, since they are good at execution too. Whereas, if they give out their scripts, they would have no control over the making, and their ideas will not get proper treatment and don't bring in desired positive results,” he points out.

Probably, they would be earning Rs 2 or 3 crore per script, but when they are making Rs 20 to 25 crore per film as directors, they can drop this idea since it could unnecessarily dent their overall ratings, he adds.
Already, Prashanth Neel is gearing up to shoot his next big-ticket film ‘Salaar 2’ with Prabhas, while Prashanth Varma has roped in Kannada star Rishab Shetty for his next socio-fantasy “Jai Hanuman’ and both the films are much-awaited and talked about in the industry.

“Their movies have breached language and regional barriers and also have big stars to trigger hype while in the making. Prashant Neel is a brand of sorts in the Kannada industry and Prashanth Varma is hailed as a promising director in Tollywood. Sustain your ratings, rather than trading it for a quick buck,” he concludes.
