The makers of Daaku Maharaaj announced on Thursday that the film's pre-release event, originally scheduled for today in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, has been canceled. The decision was made as a mark of respect for the recent Tirupati stampede tragedy, which claimed six lives.
Actor Nandamuri Balakrishna and the film's team expressed their deepest condolences to the victims' families. Sithara Entertainments, the production house behind Daaku Maharaaj, shared an official statement on social media regarding the cancellation.
"In light of the recent tragedy in Tirupati, our team is deeply saddened by this heartbreaking incident. It is devastating to witness such a tragedy at the Lord Venkateswara temple—a place of faith, devotion, and a symbol of hope for millions," the statement read.
The production house added, "Given the circumstances, we believe it would not be appropriate to proceed with the Daaku Maharaaj pre-release event as planned. With a heavy heart and utmost respect for the people's sentiments, we have decided to call off today’s event. We appreciate your understanding and support during this difficult time."
The event was initially planned as a grand gathering at an open ground in Srinagar Colony, on the outskirts of Anantapur. Necessary arrangements, including police permissions, had been secured before the unfortunate incident led to its cancellation.
