Tamil star Suriya dispelled all the rumours about his clash with Tamil superstar Rajinikanth film ‘Vettaiyan’ on October 10 and claimed that he preferred to defer the release of his much-hyped film ‘Kanguva’. “I have great regard for Rajini sir and in fact he came into the industry when I was born,’ says Suriya at an event and adds, "Rajini sir has been the face of Tamil cinema for the last 50 years. To respect his stature and charisma, I would leave the date for him, ‘he adds.

He urged fans to support his decision and asked them to make the release of ‘Kanguva’ a festival-like situation when it hit the theatres on an appropriate date. ‘I am saying this on the behalf of my Kanguva team’ he adds.

Not only Tamil distributors, the news of postponement will also impact its Telugu release. “ Kanguva has been bought for Rs 25 crores in the two Telugu states with Nizam area alone fetching them Rs 15 crore and balance Rs 10 crores from Andhra Pradesh,” says a distributor who claims that it is the highest price for Suriya movie in recent times. “His earlier films were bought for Rs 10 or 12 crores but this warrior movie has triggered big hype and also fancy price too,” he adds.
