The Kiran' in Hitha's life
An exclusive interview with the talented couple who sweetly narrate their romantic love story and their engagement plans.
We were in for a ‘knotty’ surprise on Thursday when actress Sonu Gowda revealed that actress Hitha Chandrashekhar and actor Kiran Srinivas were getting hitched! The Onthara Bannagalu co-stars, are now a couple and hope to get engaged by April or May. “I’ve been swamped with calls and everyone has been asking if the news is true! They’re all super curious about how it happened. We wanted to announce it on our respective accounts post our engagement, but Sonu did it before us!” reveals Hitha.
Their story was more like her parents’ tale, she admits, adding, “They too were co-stars and friends who were compatible and decided to get married. Kiran and I had friendzoned each other subconsciously and didn’t want to ruin our relationship. It was just a random thought that actually turned out to be what it is today.”
Adds Kiran, “We would meet every time I came to Bengaluru and I’d ask her if she found any guy since her folks were asking her to get married. We met on her birthday and I casually told her that things would be easier if she moved to Mumbai. She then said — ask me and I’ll move to Mumbai and she put the ball in my court. I didn’t even realise I’d popped the question! And then I told her that we’ll get married before her birthday in 2019.” Hitha then told her parents and the two families met each other a few days ago.
The fact that the duo could be themselves with each other made a huge difference to their relationship. “As time passed, I realised that Hitha could be the perfect partner-in-crime. Even though I’ve dated previously, I never got the ‘this is the person I can lead my life with’ feeling. I used to say I might get married in my 40s and I’ll still be fit and good looking then,” quips the actor, whose friends and family are in disbelief and shock that he’s getting hitched.
Hitha, on the other hand, says that her mum and people around her were convinced that something was brewing between Kiran and her. “When we told them, they were like - oh, finally! We were oblivious to the kind of connect we had,” she says.
Ask them what they like most in each other and Hitha goes, “He’s a really calm person and balances me out and that’s the most important thing in a partnership.”
Says Kiran, “She’s an incredible girl who makes me want to be the best version of myself. I used to tell her that she’s a great catch and anyone will be lucky to have her, but I didn’t realise that I’d be the one catching her!”
